RIKA Climate Intelligent Canopy is an automated control system designed to create the right microclimate for weaned piglets.
An infrared sensor continuously measures the piglets’ surface temperature. Based on these measurements, the system automatically adjusts the position of the canopy and the heat supply to help maintain the optimum temperature for the piglets.
Rather than relying only on the surrounding air temperature, Intelligent Canopy responds directly to the measured surface temperature of the piglets.
When additional heat is needed, the canopy is lowered and the heat source is activated. As the temperature rises, heating is reduced and the canopy gradually opens to increase air exchange and reduce humidity. During feeding, cleaning or periods of high activity, the canopy can be fully raised for easy access and maximum ventilation.
The RIKA Climate 108 control unit combines data from the infrared sensor with automated control of the canopy and heat source. The canopy can continuously adjust between 400 and 1,200 mm according to the conditions in the pen.
Different operating modes automatically adapt the system for resting, ventilation and periods of activity, while built-in safety functions protect operation in the event of power failure or system errors.
